Everyone seems to be settling in wonderfully into the new classroom. We're getting to know one another and how best to work together. Students are learning how to respond in class to their teacher and other students. Formal reading and math lessons have just begun and students will practice working in learning centers. The learning centers take some time to come together since each student records their progress for each center. One grade level will be getting explicit instruction from me while the other grade level works in learning centers. Students will have this down by October. These are independent learning stations and the process takes that long to embed into their set of skills. I will also be incorporating a few online tools to augment their learning.
Third graders will begin to use their Google account to organize digital content. This begins closer to the Christmas Holiday. | Student work will begin to come home but homework will start next week after the parent meeting. This will give some clarity towards my expectations. Please attend Parent Night this Thursday if you can. I will have the Classroom Handbook ready and can go over the policies and answer any questions you may have. What: Parent Night When: This Thursday (Aug. 27) What Time: 6:30 pm (one hour, that’s it.)
